How to Decorate Your RV Interior
RVs make traveling so much easier and more enjoyable for travelers of all types, from intrepid couples to solo road warriors to families with kids who love adventure. If you spend a lot of time on the road with your RV, though, you can end up missing the comforts of home.
Instead of feeling sad, why not customize your RV’s interior so that it better reflects your style and personality, making it a true home away from home? Here are some great tips on how to do just that!
1. Add Some Color
Most RV manufacturers try to stick to neutral colors when adding furniture, flooring, walls, and other features to RVs. Gray, white, brown, and black end up not feeling very cozy or exciting, though, which is why many RV owners choose to spruce up the interior of their RVs with splashes of color.
You can generally paint the walls of your RV like you would your home by applying a primer and then the color you desire. You could choose a pale pastel shade that opens up the space, or you could paint a bold accent wall for visual interest.
Other ways to add color include fabric wall hangings, pillows, blankets, sofa covers, and various knick-knacks. Colors could be subtle and soothing or bright and eye-catching. It’s all up to you and how you like your space to look.
2. Get Some Plants
Many people have a green thumb and love to garden and cultivate sunrooms full of houseplants. If you find yourself missing greenery on the road, why not take it with you? You’ll just have to make sure that you purchase sturdy and heavy pots that won’t tip over or lightweight hanging baskets that can be secured to the wall or ceiling for safety. You can even have a little kitchen planter or aero-garden to grow your favorite herbs for cooking!
3. Bring Things From Home
Finally, it’s helpful to take things that you’d use to decorate at home into your RV to bring that comfort with you on the road. Here are a few suggestions:
- Place photographs into lightweight plastic frames from IKEA that won’t shatter or break if they fall off the wall.
- Tack up posters with double-sided tape.
- Create a bulletin board where you can pin up postcards from places you’ve been, along with maps and other paper souvenirs.
- Place blankets and quilts that beloved relatives made for you on beds and couches to really warm up your living room or bedroom.
